Receiving Strength for a New Week
Scripture
"But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles." — Isaiah 40:31
Devotional
God never intended His people to live on exhausted reserves.
Our culture often celebrates constant activity, but Scripture consistently calls us to rhythms of work and rest. Sabbath is not merely the absence of work—it is the presence of trust. It is declaring that God continues accomplishing His purposes even when we stop striving.
As you prepare for another week, remember that your effectiveness flows from your relationship with Christ, not simply from your effort. Jesus often withdrew to quiet places to pray before returning to the demands of ministry. If the Son of God made space for rest and communion with His Father, how much more do we need the same.
Today, resist the temptation to spend your time worrying about tomorrow's responsibilities. Instead, delight in God's presence. Worship Him. Thank Him. Listen for His voice. Allow Him to restore your soul and renew your perspective.
The strength you'll need for tomorrow is found in the presence you cultivate today.
As you begin the coming week, do so with confidence—not because you know what lies ahead, but because you know the One who goes before you.
Reflection Questions
Action Step
Before ending today, pray intentionally over your upcoming week. Commit every meeting, responsibility, relationship, opportunity, and challenge into God's hands, asking Him to lead every step.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for being my source of strength and renewal. Refresh my heart today as I rest in Your presence. Help me release every anxiety about the coming week and trust completely in Your faithful care. Fill me with fresh joy, renewed purpose, and unwavering confidence that You will guide every step I take. May I begin tomorrow rested, grateful, and ready to serve You in all that I do. Amen.
