When God reveals Himself to Adam, He reveals Himself as Yahweh Elohim, which means a relational God. God wanted Adam and Eve to live a life trusting in Him, depending on God to know what is good & what is evil. 

Knowledge of good and evil causes death. But knowing God is Eternal Life.
