Episode 17:
Reclaiming Sensuality and Sexuality as a Woman with Lauren Joyce
Sex is a realm of mystery, and one that has been historically relegated to the male space. Society has told us that women’s sexuality is something that should be used for men but not ourselves. We’re constantly told that when we’ve found someone worth giving ourselves up to can we truly begin living life fully. There’s a reflection of sensuality and sexuality in all women, even those who haven’t embraced their sex appeal. The problem is that they’ve been taught that they shouldn’t be sexually attractive, they shouldn’t act on desires, or that it is wrong to feel sexual pleasure. But this isn’t true at all. Sexuality can be part of life for women if their minds are open about it.
If you’re a woman who wants to reclaim your sensuality and sexuality, you may need to take some time to get in touch with your feelings. Many women notice that they genuinely enjoy their own bodies more when they respect themselves. Understanding that true beauty is not about having the perfect body or fancy clothes paves the way deeper appreciation of yourself. It may also help to view sex as an act of love rather than an act of judgment. When you feel good about who you are, the rest will follow naturally.
