Think Out Loud

Reconciling Death & Finding Meaning in Our Grief

Listen Later

In this past year, George lost two of his grandparents, a grandfather on one side and a grandmother on the other. Experiencing, and moving through, grief within his own life has him feeling called to talk about a topic that’s not often talked about: Today’s solo is a reflection on death. George explains why he believes our culture’s relationship with death is rooted in avoidance and aims to share the skill set of grief that he’s developed in the wake of his personal losses, with the hopes of helping others view death as another way to learn about life.

Today on Think Out Loud:

  • Acceptance for the nonlinear process of grief
  • Leaning into the full spectrum of human emotions
  • George’s experiences during plant medicine ceremonies shortly after his losing each of his grandparents
  • What George chooses to believe about souls and the afterlife
