The Church is meant to be good news to the world, thanks in part to its willingness to serve others. Putting the needs of others ahead of our own exemplifies love. One of the dangers of times of trial, like our pandemic experience, is that it causes us to focus inward. Pain makes us selfish. Part of healing is opening back up and caring for others, and serving others. As individuals and as a Church we need to serve to recover well.
