# Is Your Recovery Battery Still Running on Empty? You’ve had the surgery. You’ve been through the treatment. You’ve been told you’re healing. So why are you still so exhausted? In this episode of **Recovery Beyond the Scar**, I’m talking about your **Recovery Battery** — and why recovery isn’t simply about whether your body *can* do something. It’s about how much energy that activity takes from you, how well you recharge afterwards, and whether you’re constantly getting caught in the **boom-and-bust cycle**. Think of yourself like an e-bike battery. You might wake up with 70% in the tank. Then there’s getting ready, sorting the family, working, exercising, appointments, cooking dinner, life admin — and suddenly you’re trying to finish the day on 5%. And sometimes we keep pushing anyway. ### In this episode, we explore: - What your **Recovery Battery** actually represents - Why fatigue can continue long after surgery or a significant health diagnosis - The difference between being *able* to do something and having the capacity to sustain it - How the **boom-and-bust cycle** can keep draining your battery - Why pacing isn’t about doing less — it’s about using your energy more effectively - How breathing, movement, rest and your daily habits can help you recharge - Why recognising your own energy patterns is an important part of rebuilding strength and confidence ### Your challenge this week Start noticing your battery. Ask yourself: **What percentage is my Recovery Battery at right now?** Then notice what drains it — and, importantly, what actually helps recharge it. You don't have to wait until you're completely empty before you plug yourself back in. 🎁 **FREE RECOVERY BATTERY GUIDE** I’ve created a free guide to help you put this into practice: **“Is Your Recovery Battery Still Running on Empty? – 3 Wins to Recharge”** Inside, we work through three simple areas you can start using straight away: **Breathing • Pacing • One Daily Habit** Download your free copy and start finding small, achievable ways to put some charge back into your recovery battery. **Recovery Beyond the Scar** Rebuilding strength. Regaining confidence. Reclaiming identity. **Free-Your-Time | Find Your Freedom**
What if recovery wasn’t about proving what your body can do, but about getting back to doing the everyday things that actually matter? In this episode, I reflect on the gap between being physically capable of doing something and having the strength, energy, balance and confidence to manage everyday life after surgery or a significant health diagnosis. I talk about my own changing relationship with my body, the spiral of uncertainty and fear that can come with recovery, and why I’ve stopped focusing on what my body should be able to do. Recovery is about more than physical strength. It’s about rebuilding capacity, confidence and trust in yourself — while still having enough left for your family, your life and the things that matter to you. And I share a little of what’s happening behind the scenes as I prepare to launch Recovery Beyond the Scar Collective — a space where we can rebuild strength, regain confidence and move forward together. Not Just Our Muscles That Need Strength | Recovery Beyond the Scar When we think about getting stronger after surgery, illness or a major health diagnosis, we often think about our muscles. But strength is so much more than physical. In this episode, I explore the different kinds of strength we need as we move through recovery — the strength to adapt, to listen to our bodies, to recognise where we are now and to keep taking steps forward. Recovery isn't always about getting back to who you were before. Sometimes it's about discovering who you are now and what you want your next chapter to look like. As a physiotherapist and someone who has personally navigated multiple major surgeries and long periods of recovery, I believe we need to look beyond the scar and beyond physical rehabilitation alone. 🌿 Understand your body 🌿 Rebuild confidence 🌿 Recognise your WINS 🌿 Keep moving forward 🌿 Find your freedom in your next chapter If you're recovering after surgery, treatment or a significant health diagnosis, Recovery Beyond the Scar is here to remind you that you don't have to navigate that journey alone. Stay well. Keep moving. And keep recognising those WINS.
Why does it feel like your battery is constantly running on low power mode? 🔋 After major surgery, illness or a significant health diagnosis, recovery isn’t just about the physical healing you can see. Your body may still be using a huge amount of energy behind the scenes — leaving you feeling tired, flat or frustrated that you’re not “back to normal” yet. In this episode, I talk about understanding your Recovery Battery, why your energy may still be depleted, and how small, manageable changes can help you begin to recharge. 🌿 Recovery takes time. 🌿 Small wins matter. 🌿 You don’t have to do everything at once. Recovery Beyond the Scar — rebuild confidence, move well again and find your freedom.
