Alright… this one matters.
Because two weeks ago I was laid up in pain.
Nerve pain. Low back flared up. Mentally frustrated. Physically limited. Trying to lead a business while my own body felt like it hit pause.
And here is the truth…
Recovery is not sexy.
It is slow.
It is humbling.
But it works if you stay with it.
So on stream I walked through exactly what I am doing. No fluff. No shortcuts. Just consistent movement.
Here is the routine I worked through:
Core and mobility work
Knee side to side
Knees to chest
Open book
Supine hip internal and external rotation
Figure 4 alternating knee bend
90 90 nerve glide, slow and controlled
Front scorpion
Rear scorpion
Bridging
Truck rotation on all fours
Prone supermans
Sit to stand holds
Truck rotation seated with big ball
Side planks, straight leg
Stretching finish
Hamstring one leg straight with strap, 30 seconds each
Figure 4 hold, 30 seconds
Cross over stretch, 30 seconds
Nothing crazy.
Nothing Instagram fancy.
Just disciplined reps.
Here is what I learned going through this challenge:
Pain does not mean you are broken.
It means you have to move smarter.
Nerve pain especially will not change unless you gently teach it to calm down. That means controlled motion, breathing, patience. Not ego lifting.
If you are struggling with back pain right now, here are a few things that helped me:
1.Stop chasing intensity. Chase consistency.
2.Do movements that create relief, not irritation.
3.Strengthen your core in simple ways before you go back to heavy work.
4.Listen to your body more than your pride.
5.Accept that improvement might be measured in millimeters, not miles.
The mental side is just as real.
When your body slows you down, your mind wants to spiral. But this season forced me to zoom out. Health is the foundation. Without it, nothing else scales.
Business can wait a week.
Your spine cannot.
The next ten years of your life will change based on how you handle the next ten days of discipline.
So if you are laid up…
If you are frustrated…
If you feel like your momentum stopped…
You are not done.
You are rebuilding.
Move.
Breathe.
Strengthen.
Repeat.
We are not chasing perfection.
We are chasing progress.
And progress always wins. 💪
