Tom Szaky was frustrated by the notion of business being purely for profit. So, he dropped out of Princeton and started a company creating fertilizer from waste, packaged in waste. Now, his company TerraCycle generates $13 million annually and his new initiative, Loop, is set to change the eco-system of CPG through its innovative, package free goods delivered to your door.

In school, Tom’s economics professor said something that struck him as quite profound: “The purpose of business is profit to shareholders.” But Tom wanted to challenge that. So he started a for-profit company that could also change and make things better for both society and the environment called TerraCycle.

From selling compost to now upcycling weird to recycle things like chewing gum, Tom’s company is about to change the trajectory for the entire CPG market by the introduction of Loop. Announced at the World Economic Forum, Loop is a first of its kind system that will reduce single-use containers through a convenient, circular solution. Follow along on Instagram and Facebook.
