There have been many mistakes and stumbles in getting the packaging industry to improve recycling, and in developing any consistent and effective system in Australia as a whole. This episode explains the recent collapse of the soft plastic recycling system, at least partly under the weight of the public's enthusiasm to support it, and also recent Federal Ministerial proposals for mandatory product stewardship.
