The Power of Scripture:
It’s sharp – it divides things – helps understand things
Hebrews 4:12
“12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
It reveals the heart and mind of God – you learn about who God is
2 Peter 1:20-21
“Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”
It becomes a tool in your arsenal to rebuke, to teach, etc.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
It’s your weapon against the evil one
Ephesians 6:17
“Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
God works in the physical reality that you and I work within. You can’t just hope to know God deeper and magically it happens
-God uses physical things to enact spiritual changes. Just like Jesus physically came to die so He could spiritually renew you
2 Corinthians 5:21
“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
I challenge you to commit to reading a chapter out of the New Testament every day this week.
