Red Lens 5: Kim DeFranco on doing activism & photography for the long term

Listen Later

On episode 5 of Red Lens, I talk with Minnesota-based photographer & activist Kim DeFranco.

Kim has been taking photos at protests for longer than anyone I know, going back to the 1990s.

You can see some of Kim's work and get in touch with her on Facebook and Instragram

We talk about her history of activism from the 1980s at Kent State to the Minnesota Welfare Rights Committee for over 20 years, to many activist movements in to the present day.

Through all of that, Kim has carried her camera with her to document the protests & events she attends.

This episode's intro/outro song is called 'Beautiful Boom Bap' by Music Unlimited. You can find it here.
