B Minus Show

Red Stripe Lager and Listermann Brewing’s Wisconsin Stout

Listen Later

I finally got my website repaired, so you can visit bminusshow.com if you stream this podcast that way. Im stoked! (podcast below).

I also just played a show. I will go into detail on the show about that also.

Today I drink Red Stripe Jamaican Lager. It is 4.7 abv and has fruity and grainy notes. This company went public back in the 70’s and sold to Heineken in 2015.

They have a very consistent product, which seems enjoyable on a hot day.

I also drink Listermann Brewing company’s Wisconsin Stout. At 10% abv, I should have a good topper offer for the show. This beer has maple and lactose (lactose isn’t my favorite adjunct in a beer, but beer is beer).

Stouts are some of the most intricate, sought after beers in the world. They have evolved significantly over time. Here are the guidelines for this “imperial” stout:

* American-Style Imperial Stout* Color: Black* Clarity: Opaque* Perceived Malt Aroma & Flavor: Extremely rich malty aroma is typical. Extremely rich malty flavor with full sweet malt character is typical. Roasted malt astringency and bitterness can be moderate but should not dominate the overall character.* Perceived Hop Aroma & Flavor: Medium-high to high with floral, citrus and/or herbal character.* Perceived Bitterness: Medium-high to very high and balanced with rich malt character.* Fermentation Characteristics: Fruity esters are high. Diacetyl should not be present.* Body: Full

* Original Gravity (°Plato) 1.080-1.100 (19.3-23.7 °Plato)* Apparent Extract/Final Gravity (°Plato) 1.020-1.030 (5.1-7.6 °Plato)* Alcohol by Weight (Volume) 5.5%-9.5% (7.0%-12.0%)* Bitterness (IBU) 50-80* Color SRM (EBC) 40+(80+ EBC)
