Breast cancer. Two of the scariest words in the English language.

As of January 2019, there are more than 3.1 million women with a history of breast cancer in the U.S. A woman’s risk of breast cancer nearly doubles if she has a first-degree relative (mother, sister, daughter) who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Less than 15% of women who get breast cancer have a family member diagnosed with it. (source https://www.breastcancer.org/symptoms/understand_bc/statistics)

Nikki Speer understands these statistics very clearly. Her aunt, grandmother, and mother all had breast cancer. Because Nikki was at such a high risk for developing it herself, she took the courageous route of having a preventative double mastectomy.

Now she shares her story to give women hope, courage, and love.
