There is much more to being an author than writing. 

Once you publish your first book you have essentially started your business. 

So it's important to look at your writing as a business.

The sooner you can adopt a business mindset the better you will be as you 

proceed.  

This is especially true for Indie authors. 

You are an entrepreneur and there are a lot of things to learn.

You are not only a writer, but you are a marketer, accountant, and so much more. 

Even in the traditional writing space, authors have to take on more if they want 

their books to succeed. 

Like any business it will take commitment, an insatiable appetite for learning, patience, and a never say die attitude to 

succeed. 

This is an exciting time to be a self-published author
