Part 4— Prayer & Thanksgiving
Scripture: Colossians 1:9–14
Paul prays that the Colossians would be filled with the knowledge of God’s will, walk worthy of the Lord, bear fruit, grow spiritually, and endure with joy. He then gives thanks for the believer’s inheritance, deliverance from darkness, place in Christ’s kingdom, redemption, and forgiveness.

Part 3 — The Essence of the Gospel
Scripture: Colossians 1:3–8
Paul gives thanks for the Colossians’ faith in Jesus, love for believers, and hope grounded in the gospel. He explains that the gospel is truth, rooted in God’s grace, intended for everyone, and capable of producing fruit and transformation. The message also emphasizes the privilege and responsibility of sharing the gospel.

Part 2 — Paul’s Greeting
Scripture: Colossians 1:1–2
Paul establishes the divine authority of his message and identifies his audience as faithful believers in Christ. His greeting of grace and peace reflects both Jewish and Gentile backgrounds while emphasizing the supremacy of grace over law. Even these opening verses establish the letter’s focus on Jesus and gospel truth.

Part 1 — Introduction & Background
Scripture: Colossians 1:1–2
Paul’s letter to the Colossians confronts false teachings that diminish Jesus and distort the gospel. The study introduces the background, purpose, and major themes of Colossians, emphasizing the preeminence of Jesus and the believer’s completeness in Him. The gospel reveals that everything we need is found in Christ.

Our confidence in the midst of adversity comes from knowing that we have been made righteous through Jesus. Because our right-standing with God is His gift of grace—not something we earn—we can stand confidently on His promises, knowing that no weapon formed against us will prosper and no accusation will condemn us.

Jesus taught us to pray proactively—not merely after trouble comes, but beforehand. Through Peter’s failure and Jesus’ example in Gethsemane, we see the value of praying ahead to avoid temptation, trials, and unnecessary heartache. The best way to pray proactively is in the Spirit.

When circumstances contradict God’s promises, we can respond with faith by declaring what God has said. Through the examples of Ezekiel and Jesus, we learn to speak God’s Word to impossible situations while trusting His power and grace—not our own ability—to bring His Word to pass.

God is always with us, regardless of what we face. Because He loves us as our Father, He will never leave, forsake, or abandon us. We can trust His presence, faithfulness, power, provision, and unfailing love in every circumstance.

God has not abandoned us in difficult seasons. Even when we experience loss, disappointment, or tears, He remains with us, strengthens us, and leads us forward. As we trust Him, encourage ourselves in His Word, pray, and praise, our path grows brighter and brighter. What lies ahead is better than what lies behind.

This message examines the belief in universal salvation and shows from Scripture that while Christ’s sacrifice and forgiveness are available to everyone, salvation is not automatic. Each person must respond to God’s invitation through faith, repentance, and receiving Jesus Christ.
