In this episode, we discuss the practice of Redlining and Gentrification and how they negatively affect minority and low income communities. Redlining is a discriminatory practice that was used by Banks and our Federal Government to prevent Black Americans from accessing capital, building wealth, and escaping poverty. Gentrification is the practice of turning a low income area into a more affluent area by increasing housing costs, displacing low income residents, and injecting businesses and restaurants that cater to more affluent people. Our guest is Josh Poe, who is an Urban Planner here in Louisville and created a presentation on Louisville's Redlining map.
