John 7:1-10, 50-53
In this chapter, we see that even Jesus' close relatives did not believe in him at first. At that time, his brother thought that he was seeking popularity through the miracles he performed. They acknowledged his power but did not yet see him as Lord. However, his brothers James and Judas later wrote their own respective epistles, which are included in the Bible, and ultimately came to believe in him.
Jesus wanted to avoid drawing attention to himself and instead directed it toward the Father who had sent him. He performed miracles and preached with eloquence to demonstrate to the crowd then, and to us now, that he came from the Father. His mission was to serve and to give his life in exchange for ours.
