CRINCOLI JOINS VSA OF NYC, PHILADELPHIA
Vertical Systems Analysis, Inc. (VSA), based in New York City (NYC) and Philadelphia, has announced Joseph Crincoli as executive vice president and principal. Crincoli has more than 35 years' experience in the industry. After spending the first 22 years of his career as an apprentice at Central Elevator in NYC, he joined McGlynn Hays & Co. as director of Operations, spent 10 years as vice president and partner at United Elevator Co. and joined VSA in 2016. He taught union apprentices in NYC before founding The Elevator School, which provided training to union members and employees of independent companies. He is a certified OSHA outreach contractor and a licensed QEI in New York and Pennsylvania.
REFORMA TOWERS NEAR COMPLETION IN MEXICO CITY
Reforma Towers, a pair of 40-story mixed-use structures joined by a base, are nearing completion in Mexico City and could open as early as this summer, World Architecture Community reports. Featuring a design by Richard Meier & Partners with plenty of public space and natural light, the towers will house offices, retail, restaurants and parking. Diametro Arquitectos is the developer of the project, described as a critical link between the Paseo de la Reforma financial district and the historic city center. The towers will be complemented by a 27-story hotel.
WOMAN, BABY INJURED IN HONG KONG ESCALATOR MISHAP
A 59-year-old woman and her seven-month-old grandson were hospitalized and reportedly in stable condition after falling down several steps on a shopping-mall escalator in Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong, on April 9, The Standard reports. At 43.5 m, the escalators are the second longest in Hong Kong malls. Authorities closed the escalators after the incident and found they were in good working order. Escalator accidents can be prevented, they said, by firmly holding handrails and not using smartphones while riding.
ELEVATORS FOR PAKISTAN RAIL STATIONS
Elevators are coming to 14 Pakistan rail stations across the country, a result of Pakistan Railways' decision to install them next to foot overbridges, Radio Pakistan reports. Stations getting elevators are Karachi, Hyderabad, Rohri, Bahawalpur, Multan, Raiwind, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Sahiwal, Okara, Khanewal and Faisalabad.
