Recognizing the Goodness of God | Refuge & Strength — Psalm 32

What does it really mean to experience the goodness of God?

In Part 3 of our journey through Psalm 32, Pastor b.Side explores one of the greatest expressions of God’s goodness: His mercy and forgiveness.

David’s story reminds us that God’s goodness isn’t ultimately measured by the temporary blessings we receive. It begins with something far greater—the forgiveness of sin and restoration of our relationship with Him.

One Cause For Depression

What happens when guilt, conviction, and unconfessed sin weigh heavily on the heart? In Psalm 32, David gives us a brutally honest look at what happened when he tried to hide his sin from God. His silence left him spiritually drained, weakened, and without vitality—but God’s correction ultimately led him toward confession, repentance, forgiveness, and restoration.

What does it really mean to be “blessed”?

Psalm 32:1–2 gives us a radically different picture than the way our culture often uses the word. Biblical blessing isn’t primarily about comfort, success, possessions, or getting what we want—it’s about something infinitely more valuable: God’s mercy, forgiveness, and the removal of our spiritual debt.

In this episode of Refuge & Strength, we take a deep look at David’s words in Psalm 32 and the story behind them. We explore the weight of sin, David’s failure and repentance, the Hebrew meaning behind forgiveness and “bearing up” sin, and how Jesus fulfills the role of our Great High Priest and the sacrifice that takes our sin away.

Life is hard for everyone. Because all fall short of God’s glory, we naturally produce corruption, not righteousness—and we all feel the weight of sin’s consequences.
