Many years ago, NASA sent two interplanetary spacecraft, Voyager 1 and 2, into space with a series of signals to attract the attention of those who might see or hear them in space.

The goal was to show anyone who detected these signals that they existed on Earth and were interested in studying the messages, thus establishing a kind of extraterrestrial contact.
