DMV Spotlight on August 10th, 2025 shines a light on the impacts of the latest economic policies and DOGE cuts on the DC area economy. Dr. Terry Clower, Director of the Center for Regional Analysis at George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government.
Clower looks at the latest unemployment claims in DC which reflect the highest rate in 3 years at 5.9 percent but insists the true impact of DOGE cuts will not be seen until after September when the Federal workers who took advantage of the Administration’s buyout offer will no longer be on the US Government payroll. Dr.Clower also discusses the discretionary spending decline being felt among the restaurant owners.
