“Reigning in Life” No. 7 ” by Rev. Toru Asai

After you learn what it means to reign in life, you will need to learn how you can actually reign in life on earth. Oh, yes, how can we do it? To this question, I probably get answers like: “We need to stand on God’s word,” “We need to walk by faith, not by sight,” or “We must pray more.” Yes, all these answers are correct, and we should do them all: we need to be doers of the Word, not just hearers.
But there must be still some kind of secret—truth or principal. First of all, we need to realize that just as there are natural laws in the physical world, there are spiritual laws in the spiritual world. All physical objects and matters move and change according to those laws. In the same way, spiritual matters move and change according to the laws set in the spiritual world. Once something starts moving in the spiritual world, it will soon come to affect the physical world. Since it is by spiritual authority and power given through Jesus Christ that we reign in life, it is essential that we follow these spiritual laws. So the key is to know what this spiritual law is.
You might ask, however, “Can we really do that while living in this physical world?” Yes, we can. Look at the following words of Jesus:
I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven (Mat 18:18).
Being on earth physically, you can bind or loose spiritually. In fact, all of us are doing this already. The law of gravity always works for you whether you consciously or unconsciously use that law. In the same way, since humans are spiritual beings, spiritual laws are working for you even though you are unaware of those laws. Now, here is the spiritual law you need to be aware of if you want to reign in life, rather than for death to reign over you:
From the fruit of his mouth a man's stomach is filled;
With the harvest from his lips he is satisfied.
The tongue has the power of life and death,
And those who love it will eat its fruit (Pro 18:20-21).
We normally think that the words we speak are for the people who hear them. But this scripture says that one’s stomach is filled with the fruit of his own mouth, and one is satisfied with the harvest from his own lips. The line, “The tongue has the power of life and death,” literally means, “Death and life are in the hand of the tongue.” The pronoun “it” refers to “the tongue,” and “its fruit” is the fruit of the tongue—life or death. Whichever you love to speak of with your tongue goes into your stomach. Interesting! In other words, it is what comes out of the mouth—what the tongue speaks—that determines what goes into the mouth and fills the stomach
The mechanism of how this law works is as follows: whatever you confess and continue to confess is set in motion in the spiritual world as certain reality, which eventually comes to be realized in the physical world. In fact, all the biblical prophecies have come to be fulfilled according to this principle, and all the covenants and promises recorded in the Bible are still available and working today for those who believe and confess them.
… so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it (Is 55:11).
