Scripture Meditation: Philippians 4:11-13 11 “Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

As soon as you’re able, read C.S. Lewis’ words above to your family and ask them what they think it means. Then openly discuss the following:

  • What do you think it means to be satisfied in Christ alone? Does that actually seem satisfying? Why or why not?
  • If everything were taken away from you, do you realistically think you’d be able to sing the words “It is well with my soul” and mean them? Why or why not?
  • Do you think it’s possible to desire Jesus and nothing else? Why or why not? What would it take to get to that point?
