This is a simple piece of advice given to Christians by the apostle Paul: "But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another." (Galatians 6:4).

It feels much better to achieve something in the work of God which we can be proud of than to focus on the labours of other people and not have anything we can rejoice in.
