In this episode I interview David Cabezas Ferreras from Málaga, Andalusia, Spain, an experienced English Language Coach with his own teaching business.

We discuss the very purpose of language learning, focussing on the communicative aspects of language acquisition and use and the need to build relationships with others.

We touch on aspects of marketing, using our own businesses as examples and consider how new software tools, such as ChaptCPT, for example, provide new opportunities to consider how to market businesses and services to others.

An important topic in our conversation is the growing interest in English Language use for international companies who turn to English as their 'lingua franca' or common language when operational globally.

What challenges and opportunities does this present for individuals wanting to work in these companies and is it possible that the English language is actually presenting very real barriers to people who want to progress in their careers, if they are not confident English Language users?

David and I also talk about what we actually mean by 'Business English', a subject that both of us are asked about a lot ... and we always find ourselves asking questions to clarify what people actually mean when they use that title.
