Impact of the Fall – Man’s dominion is forfeited to satan; the curse spreads through all the earth, but God moves redemptively to recover man’s lost estate. (Genesis 3:16-24). When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, the curse was in effect in the earth. Deuteronomy 39:19-20.

Curse - Family curses are reoccurring problems that steal, kill, and destroy. You need to learn how to break a curse. Scripture is clear God visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the children up to the third and fourth generation (Exodus 20:5). Curses don’t visit your family without cause. A curse can be an invisible barrier over an individual or family that keeps the children of God from receiving healing and blessing. Proverbs 26:2 - Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, So a curse without cause shall not alight.

Deuteronomy 24:16 16Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin. You are responsible for your own sins not the sins of your ancestors although their sins can affect you.

Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (Causes of blessings). Deuteronomy 28: 15 (Causes of curses). No. 1 cause of the curse – not listening to God, not obeying his voice. If they obey, everything would go well, if they disobeyed, then they would be under a curse. Deuteronomy 27:14-26 (Curses pronounced from Mount Ebal by the Levites.

Blessings – vehicles of supernatural power for good. Curses – vehicles of supernatural power continuing from one generation to another generation for evil. These vehicles can be words spoken, written or pronounced inwardly. They can be transferred by physical objects.

Summary of Blessings – Deuteronomy 28:

1) Exultation – triumph, joy at success or victory.

2) Reproductiveness – fruitful in every area of your life

3) Health

4) Prosperity, success

5) Victory

6) You’re the head and not the tail. Head makes the decisions; tail is drug around.

7) Above and not beneath

Summary of Curses – Deuteronomy 28:

1) Humiliation – to lower the pride or dignity.

2) Failure to reproduce – barrenness

3) Sickness of every kind

4) Poverty, failure

5) Defeat

6) Tail (sense of helplessness)

7) Beneath (weakness)

Other Signs of Curses

1) Mental and/or emotional breakdown

2) Repeated or chronic sicknesses – can be hereditary. Doctor cannot find a cause.

3) Female problems: miscarry, barrenness, menstrual problems

4) Breakdown of marriage and family alienation.

5) Financial insufficiency – should never be a long-lasting thing.

6) Suicide, unnatural deaths

Specific Sources of Curses and Other Reasons

1) Idolatry, false Gods, occult (mediums, ghosts and familiar spirits – Deu. 27:15: Cursed is the one who makes a carved or molded image, an abomination to the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret. Do not bring objects into your house that dishonors Jesus Christ. Deu. 7:26: Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing. Leviticus 19:6: And the person who urns to mediums and familiar spirits, to prostitute himself with them, I will set my face against that person and cut him off from his people.

2) Disrespect for parents – Prov. 30:17: The eye that mocks his father, and scorns obedience to his mother, the ravens of the valley will pick it out, and the young eagles will eat it.

3) Treachery against neighbor – Prov. 17:13: Whoever rewards evil for good, evil will not depart from his house.

4) Injustice to the weak, helpless, stranger, fatherless and widows, unborn-Abortion. Deu. 27:19: Cursed is the one who perverts the justice due the stranger, the fatherless and widow.
