As Russian forces have retreated from towns north of Kyiv, the world has watched the death and destruction left in their wake. NPR correspondent Scott Detrow visited one of those towns and heard the harrowing stories of the people who survived. Meanwhile, hoping to avoid that kind of devastation, more than four million Ukrainians have fled their country.
