There was rap before Gangsta’s Paradise, and there was rap after Gangsta’s Paradise.  Coolio’s anthem about the hood made rap mainstream virtually overnight.  And of course, Adam doesn’t like that!

Appearing on the Dangerous Minds soundtrack, it became not just the biggest rap single, but also one of the biggest singles in pop music of the 90s. And you know something is huge if Weird Al parodies it!
