The paths of an aging woman who has suffered significant family losses, a 30-year-old orphan who is searching for his father, and a Giant Pacific Octopus cross in Shelby Van Pelt's "Remarkably Bright Creatures."  Her debut novel is an emotional journey, but one that does a wonderful job of developing three unique characters. It is a fun read, a book that is engaging -- and offers a story filled with varying levels of sadness intertwined with a strong glimpse of hope.
