Remember Lot’s Wife! Luke 17:31-37

Luke 17:31-37 ESV  On that day, let the one who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away, and likewise let the one who is in the field not turn back.  (32)  Remember Lot’s wife.  (33)  Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it.  (34)  I tell you, in that night there will be two in one bed. One will be taken and the other left.  (35)  There will be two women grinding together. One will be taken and the other left.”  (37)  And they said to him, “Where, Lord?” He said to them, “Where the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.”

As we continue in Luke we continue to study Jesus’ teaching on His second coming.If you are new to CLC, what we do here is preach through books of the Bible, we take our time going line by line, verse by verse, preaching on whatever topic is presented that day.We started the book of Luke 2 years ago, and today we happen to be talking about the second coming.Remember, church, that this teaching is on the heels of what Jesus told the Pharisees, the false believers, and the disciples, the true believers.The false believers asked Jesus “When will the Kingdom of God come?” and to the false believers He told them “Don’t you get it? The kingdom of God is here in your midst!”But to the true believers Jesus said “The kingdom of God is coming when I come back to earth like a Flash of Lightning.”What we learned was that the Kingdom of God is here in earth, but it is not complete, it is not as it is in heaven.In heaven the Kingdom of God is complete, perfect, without sin or darkness… every corner of heaven is God’s Kingdom.When Jesus came the first time, some 2000 years ago, he begain to bring the Kingdom of God here to earth.To every person who gives their life to Christ, turns from their sin and confesses Him as Lord… they become Born again, and they become a part of the Kingdom of God.So the Kingdom of God is on earth in part, but there is still sin, and sorrow, and darkness on earth.There are still parts of earth that are not a part of God’s dominion… and our job until Jesus comes back is to go and make disciples, in other words, go and spread the Kingdom of God one soul at a time.But know this church… the Kingdom of God will come to earth in completion, it will come with the sound of a trump from the Eastern Sky, Jesus will come back and when He does He will Judge the earth and cleanse the earth from all unrighteousness, bringing the full Kingdom of God to earth!This is our blessed assurance, the reason we can cry Maranatha! Lord Come Quickly, because Christ is coming to perfect the world, to bring His full Kingdom!So last week we spoke about the world’s ignorance to sin, and even the lukewarm church’s ignorance to sin… especially in our own nation, and how that IGNORANCE and APATHY is more of a sign of the second coming of Christ then the actual sin is.Today we are going to talk about what to do in light of that information and how to respond if we see the Wrath of God poured out on our Nation.With that wiehgty intro, let’s pray!

Point One – Drop Everything and Follow Christ

Luke 17:31  On that day, let the one who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away, and likewise let the one who is in the field not turn back. 

Church, if Christ is real… if this is all true… if ETERNITY is at stake… then this point should be very easy to swallow… if you truly believe… if you KNOW the truth… this point should really not have to be said…DROP EVERYTHING AND FOLLOW CHRIST.
