The church that Christ envisioned was born on the Day of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit came upon and dealt within the disciples. They spoke in an angelic toungue that every person heard what they said in their native language. Peter preached his first sermon and 3000 souls came to salvation that day. When Christians let the Holy Spirit guide their lives, we are hearing Jesus say "Remember Me" when I promised you the Comforter would come.
