He was a successful football player before retiring in 1974 to pursue acting full-time.

Stallone credited Weathers’s talent and powerful presence with contributing to the success of the Rocky films.

They discuss the film’s place in the action-horror genre, with Craig comparing it to Friday the 13th with muscular army guys and Arnold Schwarzenegger as the final girl. They mention the film’s impressive sound design, particularly in the Predator’s point-of-view shots.

The hosts also touch on the intense testosterone on set, with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura constantly trying to one-up each other in the gym. Carl Weathers, meanwhile, worked out on his own, wanting his co-stars to believe his impressive physique came naturally. Tragically, Hall died of AIDS in 1991 after contracting the virus through a blood transfusion.

Todd and Craig conclude by discussing their mixed feelings about Predator through the lens of their adult sensibilities, while also acknowledging the film’s nostalgic value.
