As you heard in my opening that today (10th of April) marks exactly thirty years since Chris Hani the then general secretary of the South African Communist party. His assassination happened at a very sensitive time in the history of our country as we were building up to the first democratic elections, while the codesa talks for peace were still fresh. So many things were happening, political violence in the country between the ANC and the IFP, on the other hand the AWB was fighting for an independent Afrikaner state. Let’s take you back to that era to remind ourselves just how tense things were after the assassination of Chris Hani....
