BANGKOK – Australian journalist Lindsay Murdoch has been a permanent fixture on the Australian and Southeast Asian media scene for almost half a century as one of the region’s legendary foreign correspondents.
He began his career in rural Victoria before moving to newspaper in Melbourne where he wrote for the Fairfax stable, which includes the . He covered wars and conflicts from East Timor to Iraq, interviewed prime ministers and presidents, and picked up three prestigious Walkley Awards along the way.
 Luke Hunt spoke with Murdoch at his Bangkok home back in March shortly before he called it quits.
