He is described by many as very brave and one of the most influential and feared activists in Bonteheuwel, a township in the Western Cape. A member of Mkhoto Wesizwe, he was killed by the then South African police in what is described as very brutal as they wanted to make sure that he’s dead. This happened on the 9th of July in 1987 when he was 20-years of age. Even mourners were harassed at his funeral. To share some of the memories of Ashley Kriel and the role he played in the fight against apartheid
Guest: Michel Assure – Ashley Kriel’s older sister
Guest: Irma Titus – Active community builder in Bonteheuwel
