Remembering the Greatest Sacrifice EWOC sermon – May 27, 2018 Remembering the Greatest Sacrifice This MEMORIAL weekend we remember those who laid down their lives. Freedom is never FREE. It cost some families the life of their beloved fathers, sons, daughters and even mothers and some even come back crippled. Memorial Day is a time to honor those who are serving and have served in the military. It is also a day to remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom in giving their lives. When we celebrate Memorial Day, it doesn’t mean we are agreeing with our governments decisions and wars, but that we are taking time to recognize those who are willing to protect us. NO GREATER LOVE The Importance Remembering Romans 5:7 (NLT) 7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, (Jesus did) though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. THE GREATEST MAN WHO HAS LAID DOWN HIS LIFE IS – JESUS BECAUSE OF HIM LAYING DOWN HIS LIFE WE HAVE THE GREATEST HOPE John 15:13 (NLT) 13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. Every miserable life can now be turned around 2 Timothy 2:3-4 (NLT) 3 Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.
