Remove the Wall - Put Back the Hedges (Excerpt from the book, "From Greyhound To A Cap-N-Gown"

Listen Later

Morning, afternoon evening, whatever the case maybe. Donna here for you personally!!

Question: What wall or walls do you have built up in your life.

I have many, but with your help on this podcast we will bring them down.  Here's a couple of quotes to help tear down some of those walls:

Amelia Earhart said, " The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.

So, I looked up the word, "tenacity"  as a noun it means-the quality or fact of being very determined; determination.
Another quote I believe fits the inability to remove walls is worry about what would happen, if the wall or comfort zone wasn't there.  First Lady Michelle Obama said, " Make decisions based on what should happen, not what shouldn't".

As we take a look at our hopes and dreams let's work together and do a little "hedge building" and wall destroying!

1. Remove negative thought patterns, with positive ones. You may have to go for a walk or cut off the television.  Remember your eyes is a "gateway into the soul or mind".

2. Make gratitude a habit. Some say keep a journal, I talk to myself about past situations or circumstances I was able to get out of, or catching a lucky  break when others had to pay money or wait on something. Gratitude comes in all shapes and sizes.

3. Identify your goals and dreams, put them on the refrigerator, because that's a place you visit everyday. You can also keep inspirational quotes there also.

4. Get a daily dose of Laughter: Like I mentioned, one of my friends sent me a couple of YouTube video's  that were pretty funny.

5. Adopt a pet: Countless studies have shown the benefits of owning and loving a pet. Adopting a dog or cat from your local shelter would be a great idea to removing the wall of hurt, by building a hedge of compassion to an animal  who will give it back without expecting something in return.

Sunday, August 7, 2011 -
After church I changed clothes and tried to think positive thoughts about, how I was going to pay rent, getting approved for food stamps, and continuing believing God for a car before my first internship as a social worker. Face it I was independently trapped, in an apartment with no car, no job and no money all a fault of my own. Then this still small voice brought some thing to my remembrance, God's promises does not return to him even if you step out of the faith walk and take your own walk in another direction.  It will happen and work with or without you showing up on time.  I say that because sensing that I set myself back by moving off campus too soon and not waiting on God. Meanwhile, I had to put my size 8 1/2 shoes back on the faith walk, believe that God was not mad at me and do not listen to the negative voices in my head saying you blew it!

SPIRIT HELP NOTES:

Job 1:10, "Have You not made a HEDGE around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side?  You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land."

Isaiah 55:11, "So shall My word be that goes for from My mouth it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."

Proverbs 3:5-6, " Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct your path."
