Removing Negative Energy

Mel’s Mindful Moments S1-E40 

Sometimes it is difficult to stay positive, when there is so much negative energy around us.  We need to learn how to unplug ourselves from everything and detox from it. We can accomplish this through meditation as a way to center and refocus our energies. 

So in this podcast we are going to do a little self care with a short meditation.

So… Find yourself a comfortable position 

… preferably in a seated position with a tall, straight back and then settle yourself in to make sure that you are comfortable. 

We will begin our session with the breath. 

Because breath is life. 

So, take a deep breath in through the nose. 

... when you get to the top, hold it. 

… Now exhale through the mouth, letting out all the air and push out that negative energy. 

Again that take a deep breath in (through the nose), 

… hold it … 

… and exhale through the mouth, all the way to the bottom. Let out all of the negative energy. 

Once more … take a deep breath in .(through the nose) 

… and on the exhale .. let your eyelids close. 

Now let your breathing return to your natural rhythm, 

… in an out, settling the breath. 

Now… imagine each time you exhale, you are removing all the negative energy from your body, with each breath, more and more negative energy is expelled. As you inhale, the more and more you begin to relax, with each and every breath. 

As you continue to breathe normally, draw your attention to the top of your head. Notice any tension there, if so, then with the next breath, … see it begin to relax and dissipate. As you exhale all the tension away from this area. 

Now moving to the forehead, relax this area of any tension, and breathe it away. Then to the facial muscles, relax them and let your jaw go lax as you slightly part your teeth. 

Now to the neck and shoulders, which is often sources of tension caused by stress. Loosen the tension from your muscles in these areas as you continue to breathe normally. If you need to you can even shrug you shoulders up and down a few times, and then let them relax. 

Now to your arms … relax and remove all tension from your arms, down to your forearms, then to your hands and fingers. 

Now the chest and abdomen, relax and remove all the tension from these areas, breathe the tension away on the next exhale. 

Now to the legs, relax your thighs, knees, and calves. If you have any areas here that are particularly tight or sore, you can slightly hold the tension in them for a few seconds and then release. 

Now down to your feet and toes, release all the tension there. As you do, imagine your feet forming roots, connecting you with the earth for both releasing negative energy and pulling in nourishment from mother earth into your body. 

Now just be in the moment as you listen to the music…. and to the chimes. 

Notice how you are feeling right now. In this calm and relaxed state, there is nothing to do, nothing we need concern ourselves with. All we are and all we have, is in this moment right now. Calm … clear … and relaxed. 

Now… We can now begin to bring our attention back into the present moment 

… You can start by wiggling your fingers and your toes

… And only when you are ready 

… you can open your eyes

… and take with you into the day, the new energy you gained from this mediative session.
