There is a BIG difference between having a business that posts content and actually using your content to build a brand.
You can have a full content calendar. You can post consistently. You can make Reels, follow trends, share educational carousels and have beautiful graphics.
And still be completely forgettable.
Because posting asks: “What are we putting up today?”
Brand building asks: “What are we intentionally teaching people to associate with us over time?”
In Part 1 of this two-part conversation, I’m breaking down some of my biggest brand DOs and DON'Ts for turning your social media presence into something people actually recognize, remember and talk about.
We’re getting into:
Because ultimately, your offer is what someone buys. Your brand is everything they associate with it.
And one of my favorite questions from this episode:
If someone were recommending you when you weren't in the room, what would they say you're known for?
THAT is the work we're doing here.
Part 2 is coming next week with even more of my brand DOs and DON'Ts—and how to tell whether your content is actually creating recognition, memory and reputation or simply filling your feed.

Welcome to Ask Sydney—where I answer real questions from women in our Renaissance Women community about social media, visibility, entrepreneurship, and building a business that actually supports the life you want to live.
This week, we’re talking about something I know so many women wrestle with: being seen.
What do you say when it feels like everything has already been said? How do you decide what you actually want to become known for when you do a lot of different things? And what do you do when you want to be more visible—but every time you start putting yourself out there, you find yourself pulling back again?
I’m answering three questions:
We’re talking about why your perspective is the differentiator, how to find the throughline in everything you do, and why becoming known doesn’t require putting yourself into one tiny box.
And maybe most importantly: what could become possible if you stopped letting the discomfort of being seen have the final say?
Because visibility isn’t about becoming internet famous. It’s about making it easier for the right people to find you, trust you, remember you, and bring your name up in rooms you aren’t in yet.
And if you want to keep having conversations like this with women who are building right alongside you, come join us inside Renaissance Women—our visibility-forward community for women entrepreneurs who want to become known for what they do. You’ll get group coaching with me, social media prompts and strategy, guest experts, community, connection, and opportunities to get in the room together IRL.
Your Renaissance is just beginning.

We’re coming to you LIVE from the 2026 Renaissance Women’s Summit!
On September 10th, more than 100 women entrepreneurs came together at Riverwood Mansion in Nashville for our seventh Renaissance Women’s Summit—and one of my favorite activations of the day was the podcast content creation pop-up with our Summit partner Amplify Boutique, founded by Cait Howard.
So naturally, Cait put me in the hot seat.
We sat down in the middle of the Summit for a fun, candid conversation about what it actually looks like to build a business, brand, and visibility strategy that is sustainable for the woman behind it.
I share why one of the biggest themes of this year’s Summit was rejecting the pressure—especially the pressure we see on social media—to build the biggest business possible simply because we can. Your version of success gets to look different. Your business should support the life you want to live, not require you to sacrifice it.
Cait and I also dig into what sustainable visibility actually looks like and her framework for thinking about it through three important pieces:
Visibility: How are people finding you?
Connection: How are you giving them an opportunity to go deeper with you?
Conversion: How are you creating a path for those relationships to become business?
And the answer to each of those questions should be based on your goals, your capacity, and the platforms you actually want to use.
We also get into something I am VERY passionate about right now: the increasing value of long-form content in an AI-saturated world.
We talk about why podcasts, YouTube, blogs, and deeper conversations give us something short-form content alone can't; why creating long-form content can make you a stronger communicator and sharpen your messaging; and why you should consider creating as if you have a podcast—even if you never actually launch one.
Because long-form content gives you the space to tell the stories, explain the nuance, and share the perspective that makes people think, “I want to hear more from her.”
And from there? You have an incredible foundation for your short-form content, too.
We also reflect on the incredible women who filled the room at this year’s Summit, how their energy exceeded our expectations, and what it felt like to see the message of building a Renaissance Business resonate so deeply.
This one is fun, honest, a little different from our typical episode—and recorded right in the middle of the magic of Summit day. ❤️

For the first time in seven Renaissance Women’s Summits, I walked away feeling like this wasn’t the culmination of everything we had been building.
It was the beginning.
There is so much ahead.
For years, I’ve continued moving forward with this vision even during seasons when I wasn’t completely sure where it was leading. And this year, something clicked. All of those years of moving forward without having perfect clarity created the clarity and confidence I have now about where Renaissance Women is going.
In this episode, I’m taking you inside the 2026 Renaissance Women’s Summit at Riverwood Mansion—the room, the women, the conversations, the moments that surprised me, and what I learned from hosting our seventh Summit.
I’m sharing some of my biggest takeaways about building a business and brand that feels authentically YOU, doing the things that scare you, learning how to pivot when things inevitably don’t go according to plan, and remembering to deeply pour into the people who have already chosen to show up for you.
Because this year, the women in the room weren’t simply the audience.
They were the event.
Their businesses. Their dreams. Their questions. Their vulnerability. Their willingness to connect and be seen.
And that realization leads directly into what comes next.
At the Summit, we officially launched Renaissance Women, and today I finally get to introduce it to our podcast community.
Renaissance Women is a social media and visibility-forward community for women founders who want to become known for what they do.
Because visibility creates opportunity.
This isn’t about becoming an influencer. It’s about becoming known—for your expertise, for the problem you solve, for the business you’re building, and by the people you’re meant to serve.
Inside Renaissance Women, we’re bringing together social media strategy, content, messaging, visibility, coaching, accountability, real relationships, and in-person experiences to help women stop building alone and start becoming more visible alongside women who get it.
The Summit is no longer the destination.
It’s the launching pad.
The podcast, the community, the Summit, and everything we’re building from here are becoming one Renaissance Women ecosystem—and I have never felt more certain about where we’re going.
If you’ve been listening to this podcast and wishing you could take the conversation beyond your headphones and actually be in community with us, this is your invitation.
❤️ JOIN THE RENAISSANCE WOMEN COMMUNITY:
And to every woman who walked through the doors of Riverwood Mansion, every speaker who poured into our women, my incredible team, and every partner who believed in this vision: thank you.
A special thank-you to our 2026 Summit partners and sponsors: Entreprenista, Gift House, Myrrh Candle Co., STAT Wellness, ILA, Kate Tran, Amplify Boutique, Asulon Coffee, Edit Rentals, Juno, Bach Babes, Lifestyle by LeBlanc, R Public Relations Firm, The Legal Apothecary, Anchor, Southern Domestic Diva, NexusPoint, and Hey Hey Creative.

Welcome to RENAISSANCE WOMEN.
Today is officially the beginning of the 2.0 era of this show—and I genuinely cannot think of a better episode to launch it with.
If you’ve been listening to this podcast before today, welcome back. And if this is your first episode, welcome to Renaissance Women: The Podcast—a show for women building businesses, brands, and lives that require them to step outside of their comfort zones, become known for what they do, and build something that supports the woman behind it.
And here’s what I want you to know from the very beginning:
If you’re listening, you’re already part of this community.
You are a Renaissance Woman.
This show is an extension of the Renaissance Women community we’re building through our podcast, our annual Renaissance Women’s Summit, and everything that’s coming next.
Because I believe we are Renaissance women building Renaissance businesses—and visibility is one of the greatest tools we have to create the opportunities we’re praying for.
So for the first official episode of this new era, we’re picking right back up with Part 2 of The State of Social Media in 2026.
In Part 1, I dug into the latest industry research to understand something I’ve been feeling all year: social media feels different.
The tolerance for mediocre content has never been lower.
AI has made it easier than ever to create more content, but consumers are becoming increasingly selective about what actually earns their attention. We talked about AI slop, authenticity over production value, founder visibility, and why community and conversation are becoming increasingly important.
Today, we’re answering the bigger question:
So what do we actually DO about it?
We’re getting into:
Because here’s where I believe we’re headed:
More specific content. More useful content. More original content. More human content.
The barrier to creating content has never been lower.
But the barrier to creating content worth someone’s attention has never been higher.
Welcome to the 2.0 era.
Welcome to Renaissance Women.
I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s build something worth being known for.

Something feels different about social media in 2026. The tone, the energy, the way people are consuming content—and if you’re a business owner, you’ve probably felt the shift too.
I’ve been talking all year about why I believe the future of social is more human, more relational, and less dependent on perfectly polished content. But I wanted to know: does the research actually back that up?
So I dug into the latest industry data, and some of these stats are FASCINATING.
In Part 1, we’re talking about the rise of “AI slop,” why consumers are becoming more selective about what earns their attention, the growing value of authenticity over production value, why founder visibility is becoming a real business asset, and why community management is so much bigger than responding to comments.
The opportunity on social media has never been larger—but the tolerance for mediocre content has never been lower.
If you’re trying to figure out what’s actually working right now and how your business should evolve with it, this episode is for you.

What actually separates the people and brands who build something meaningful on social media from everyone else?
In Part 1, we talked about sustainability—being willing to keep going long enough for social media to actually work—and why you have to stop letting the performance of individual posts determine whether you're willing to show up again tomorrow.
Now, in Part 2, we're going deeper into what I believe social media success requires in 2026.
After working in social media since 2012, I believe we're entering an era where the WHO matters just as much—if not more—than the WHAT.
Because information is everywhere. AI can give us tips, captions, ideas and answers in seconds. But it can't replace you: your perspective, your experiences, your stories, your personality and the trust you build with the people on the other side of the screen.
In this episode, I'm talking about:
Because here's what more than a decade in this industry has taught me:
You don't become good at social media and then start posting. You become good at social media because you keep posting.
Social media success isn't about finally figuring out social media. It's about becoming the kind of person—and building the kind of brand—that can continue succeeding while social media changes.
Show your face. Know your WHO. Stay willing to evolve. Keep practicing.
And keep going.

I’ve been working in social media since 2012, which basically means I’ve lived through multiple lifetimes of the internet. 😂 And after more than a decade in this industry, I’ve learned that exceptional content, a great strategy, and amazing metrics matter—but they’re not the only things that determine whether you’ll actually succeed on social media.
There are certain mindsets and behaviors I see over and over again in the people and brands that build something meaningful online—and in this two-part series, I’m breaking down what I believe social media success actually requires in 2026.
In Part 1, we’re talking about two of the biggest ones:
First: you need a mindset of sustainability. The brands and personal brands we think of as “overnight successes” are often 10+ years in the making. Social media isn’t a 30-day campaign. If you want to build a brand that lasts, you have to build a relationship with visibility that you can sustain for years—and be willing to keep showing up, experimenting and evolving along the way.
Second: you have to get over your posts not performing. Some posts are going to flop. Something you LOVE might get 17 likes. And guess what? No one is sitting at home analyzing your engagement and deciding your business must be failing. 😂 We’re talking about the Spotlight Effect, why we dramatically overestimate how much other people are paying attention to our performance, and how to stop letting your metrics dictate whether you're willing to show up again tomorrow.
This isn't an episode about hacks, viral hooks or gaming the algorithm. It's about developing the mindset required to stay visible long enough for social media to actually work.
Because a low-performing post isn't a public humiliation.
It's data. Learn from it. Make the next thing. And keep going.
Part 2 coming next: why you need to show your face, deeply understand your WHO, develop a growth mindset around evolution, and commit to becoming a practitioner.

If you've ever stared at the "Post" button... recorded the video ten times... or convinced yourself that everyone is going to judge you the second you start showing up online...
This episode is for you.
Today we're diving into the psychology behind visibility—not content strategy, not algorithms, but what's actually happening inside your mind when being seen feels uncomfortable.
You'll learn about a psychological phenomenon called The Spotlight Effect, why our brains naturally overestimate how much other people are paying attention to us, and how that one mindset shift can completely change the way you show up.
We'll also talk about what people are actually thinking when they consume your content (hint: it's probably not what you think), why familiarity builds trust, and why consistency—not perfection—is what creates opportunities.
Because the greatest barrier to your visibility usually isn't social media.
It's the story your brain is telling you about being seen.
If this episode resonates with you, send it to another woman entrepreneur who needs the reminder that her voice deserves to be heard.
And if you're ready to take your visibility to the next level, I'll see you on September 10th at the Renaissance Women's Summit. 🤍

In Part Two of this special conversation, Christina and Sydney go deeper.
After introducing the Renaissance Business framework in Part One, Sydney unpacks each of the four Ps—People, Profit, Process, and Perception—and shares why these are the pillars that have shaped every stage of Renaissance Marketing Group's growth over the past 11 years.
This isn't theory. It's the framework built through real wins, hard lessons, mistakes, pivots, and the behind-the-scenes work that transformed a social media agency into a sustainable business.
In this conversation, Sydney shares:
• The biggest mistakes founders make when they focus on only one area of their business
• How each of the 4 Ps works together to create long-term, sustainable growth
• Practical examples from her own business of strengthening People, Profit, Process, and Perception
• Why the "unsexy" parts of business are often the biggest drivers of freedom, growth, and opportunity
• A behind-the-scenes look at what attendees will experience inside this year's Renaissance Women's Summit and why every keynote, workshop, and conversation was intentionally designed around these four pillars
Whether you're scaling your first six figures or leading an established company into its next season, this episode will help you identify where your business feels strongest, where it's out of alignment, and what to focus on next.
If Part One gave you the blueprint, Part Two shows you how to build it.
