Renergen is reportedly attempting to withdraw from the Virginia Gas Project in the Free State. This is according to Ketso Makume, MEC for Finance, Tourism and Economic Development. Speaking to the OFM Business Hour during the provincial mid-term expenditure (PMTEC) hearings, Makume said the company is facing its own internal challenges, and the provincial government now wants a full overview of the issues driving the possible pull-out because locals were promised jobs and increased economic activity as a result of the project.
