God isn't trying to fix the old you, that version already died with Christ. What He's doing now is something better: renewing the new you, the one that rose with Jesus. In Colossians 3, Paul reminds us that we've already been made new, and we're called to live from that place, not climbing out of who we were, but stepping into the work that Christ completed on the cross.
