Senator Christopher Dodd's decision to not seek re-election set a political shuffle in motion. State Senator Jonathan Harris announced that he is seeking the office of Secretary of the State now that current Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz is seeking the office of Attorney General.

Should Harris continue his run, he won't seek re-election. Representative Beth Bye is the first candidate to announce an interest in running for Harris' seat.
