Faith + or faith alone? Acts 2:38, when taken out of context, is often misunderstood and misapplied. Peter’s call to “repent and be baptized” does not represent additional steps a person must do to receive forgiveness of sins and the free gift of eternal life. His call to “repent and be baptized” is a challenge to turn away from stubborn self-righteousness and rejection of Jesus, and to turn toward God through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.
