As a youth, he experienced firsthand the effects of severe systemic issues within urban communities, including police brutality, mass incarceration, gentrification, and class warfare. Motivated by his surroundings, he began writing rhymes in his notepad as a primary means of self-expression. He sharpened his skills participating in combative freestyle rap battles at lunch and after school, establishing his identity as a hard-hitting lyricist.

RePPiN4U Hip Hop Show: So NUT-RAGEOUS!

Special Guest - NUTSO!

New single - Redemption, memories of Prodigy, embracing multiple cultures within Hip Hop and more!

Plus ANOTHER MONSTER PLAYLIST! New Che Noir, K Davis Da Hitman, Positive K, Statik Selektah, Amerie and more!

Nutso (often known as TheRealNutso) is a seasoned American rapper, songwriter, and producer from Flushing and Corona, Queens, New York. Known for keeping the raw, gritty, street-oriented "Boom Bap" East Coast hip-hop sound alive, Nutso has spent over 25 years navigating the underground rap scene, earning massive respect from hip-hop legends while staying fiercely independent.

Nutso grew up between the neighborhoods of Flushing and Corona in Queens. Immersed in the late 1980s and early 1990s New York street culture, his earliest connection to hip-hop began through family members who were DJs, alongside local influences like Run-D.M.C. and Big Daddy Kane.

He initially earned the neighborhood nickname "Radio Raheem" because he walked the streets carrying a massive boombox, which routinely resulted in arrests and disorderly conduct tickets for loud music. Before picking up a microphone, he participated in early hip-hop culture via breakdancing and beatboxing. Originally calling himself "MC Peanut" because of childhood jokes about his head shape, he eventually adapted his street name to Nutso.
