House Republicans have introduced a bill that, if passed, would set in motion the United States’ withdrawal from the United Nations. According to NBC, Alabama Congressman Mike Rogers initiated this proposal, called the “American Sovereignty Act of 2017” or, to be more technical, H.R. 193. It was brought to Congress at the start of the new year—January 3, 2017—and referred to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs that same day.
