Requires Faith- Romans Lent Series
Romans 1 points how how the gentiles were idolators and Romans 2 shows that the Jews are as well. Gentiles trust power, the sword, and the self while Jews trusted the law and religion. Paul puts everyone on the same playing field as idolaters in order to call them to faith in the source. Romans 3: 9 “What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin.” Whatever “resources” we trust in need challenged by God who is the source. That is the challenge of this Lent season as we process these three things. We don’t give up things in order to receive from God but there is something about making space in our lives for new things to happen. That is what we are focusing on.
1. What are you going to ask God for? Make your request. Ask God for something that would help you in this season. Seek a breakthrough in something you are struggling with or something that would help you advance. What is it?
2. What is God asking you to do? What is an action that would be a step of faith for you? What is something you are willing to step out in faith and do? What will it look like to do so?
3. What and how are you going to Fast? What is something you are giving up? What is something you can take out of your life to make space for what God is calling you too or wants to do in you?
