In this installment of my combined vlog/podcast series of conversations with scholars whose publications inspire and inform my work, a panel discussion with three fabulous colleagues: Maria Norbäck (University of Gothenburg), Errol Salamon (University of Huddersfield), and Erwin van 't Hof (University of Amsterdam). All are researching the working lives of media workers generally, and freelance journalists in particular.
The discussion focuses on the experiences of journalists in the coronavirus context, the various ways in which reporters resist, circumvent or alternatively organize the structural precariousness of their work, and how we, as researchers, can take responsibility for researching freelance journalists.
The conversation was recorded on November 2, 2020 and is available in YouTube as a #Deuzevlog.
