Since the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in
1990, the number of students with disabilities entering postsecondary institutions has increased significantly (United States Government Accountability Office, 2009). Despite the fact that these students comprised roughly 11% of the post-secondary population in 2007-2008 (National Center for Education Statistics, 2012), higher education research has largely ignored students with disabilities.
