What would it look like for us to really take seriously the words of Jesus? What if we just all agreed that the teachings of Jesus are normative for all Jesus-followers, regardless of which theological camp we may place ourselves in? In Acts 2:42, the early church in Jerusalem devoted themselves to the "apostle’s teaching". The “apostle’s teaching” was not referring to the NT because it wasn’t written yet. They devoted themselves to what the apostles taught about Jesus, including the very words of Jesus and their recollections of time spent with him.
