While David was praising God in II Samuel 6:14-17, his wife, Michal, was watching him. She didn’t participate, and she wasn’t happy about it — but she watched. David could have allowed her displeasure to dictate his praise, but he chose to worship anyways. This is always the goal, but it’s not always easily done. The greater temptation and inclination is to allow those who are watching to turn us from worshippers to watchers. And because of this, many of us have been watching what God is doing, rather than participating. But this year, it’s time to stop watching and start worshipping.
